You guys have no idea how close I've come to missing posting this month!  So many times I've been about to head to bed, and remembered.  Like now, I just finished watching a movie, it's 3am, and I'm thinking I need to find Lula so we can go curl up in bed, and I remember I haven't posted.  Doh!  On the other hand, nobody's been commenting- is anyone actually keeping up with the everyday posting reading?

A couple of amusing stories from work today:

For some reason, things were crazy when I first got there!  I guess it was the time of day, but it was so strange to have the phone ringing constantly and people who kept coming up.  I think that half the rooms called the desk within 5 minutes.  So, first a lady comes in the lobby wanting extra towels for the pool.  I check the closet of supplies, where they should be, but there are none there!  So, I told her I'd hunt some down and bring them to her room.  As she walks away, I notice that something in her bag must have been leaking, because there's a trail of pink liquid all the way from the front door, across the lobby, and into the hallway.  I'm crouched down, rag in hand, doing my best Pre-Princess Cinderella impression when my manager comes in and asks what the heck I'm doing scrubbing the floors.  I think she thought she struck employee gold for a second there.  She finds some towels, I run them to the room, come back, and the phone rings- someone's room has no toilet paper.  So, I run down to laundry, grab a roll, take it to the room, and head back upstairs.  I plop down in my chair and the phone rings- the guy I checked in a minute ago is mad that the lamp in his room isn't bright enough.  He wants either 100-watt bulbs to replace the 60's, or another lamp.  Wondering what the heck he's doing that requires bright lights, I find my manager and we hunt down some lightbulbs, finally finding some 75-watts in her office, which we "borrow", and I take them up to his room.  His wife answers the door and is totally nice, I give her the lightbulbs, and go back downstairs (dude, why did I wear heels today?)  I sit down, and the phone rings.  Luckily, a guest walks in, and I get to check them in while my manager answers the phone.  It's the people I just delivered lightbulbs to- The man is mad because he wanted new bulbs AND a lamp.  He totally said "or" when he talked to me- I even wrote it down that way.  The man is actually pissed off about the light in his room.  So, my manager steals a lamp from an empty room, and takes it to Light Man.  Are they shooting low budget porn in there, or what?  Seriously, who needs SEVEN lightbulbs to light your hotel room?  I don't think my entire apartment has as much light as that man had in his little room.  Luckily I didn't hear from him again, and I got to spend the next few hours watching American Idol, Ever After (YAY for a movie I love being on to pass the time!) and Whose Line.  The only other interesting that happened was a man who came down to the desk saying that his TV remote wasn't working, and that he figured out why- someone had stolen the batteries!  I couldn't help but crack up over someone actually stealing the batteries out of the remote- seriously, if your life is to the point where you find yourself stealing hotel room remote batteries, it's time for some changes.  I couldn't find any batteries at the desk, so I gave him the ones from my remote (found em later.).

I got off at 11, and although I'd been kind of considering heading over to the movie theater for the midnight showing of Episode III, I decided to just come home.  I have GOT to start taking frappuccino to work with me.  I actually made the most disgusting coffee concoction tonight in a feeble attempt to stay awake.  There was ice and sugar involved.  That's all I'm saying.

Oh, and you know what's cool?  I checked my odometer on Monday, and it is only like 30 miles round trip to work!  30 miles!  Compared to 200 a day with my old job!  How cool is that?

The other cool thing is that I've finally had time to work on my travel agent classes again.  I pretty much put that on hold once my history class started- there was just no time to do everything at once.  But now I have plenty of time- yay!  Taking the time off has made me totally forget a bunch of airport codes, though.  (I couldn't remember what IAH was, and that's one of the easier ones!)  I really need to call up to retake that test I failed.  I promise to send the people to the right airport this time!  I also like the people I work with so far, and other than a few lighting-obsessed people, the guests have mostly been nice and fun, too.  One guy even took our picture after we checked him in on Monday.  How cute is that?  He told me all about buying his new digital camera on e-bay.  Speaking of which, mine should come tomorrow or Friday!  WOO!
