So, it's 5:25am, I have to work at 9am, and I've had around two hours of sleep. What better to do than catch up in the ol' journal, eeh?
For the record, Tallulah is sleeping on my bed a few feet away, and sometimes I swear I think she makes a point of being as cute as humanly... err.. felinely possible at all times. Just as I glanced over to check on her, she did the cutest little yawn and stretch ever. (/End crazy cat ladyness)
Speaking of Lu, LJC linked to a cute icon maker that I had to share, as well, so here ya go. If you make one, I demand you show me. Consequently, here is me as an icon:
I appreciate that they included Tallulah as an add-on.
Lu and Lilly went to the vet this morning (well, yesterday, if you want to be all technical), for their yearly shots, which went about as well as that sort of thing can. Lula purred the whole time, and kept trying to snuggle the vet assistant's hand while he was filling out her papers. She stretched out on the exam table so that everyone could have access to pet her and tell her how very pretty she is. Lilly jumped off the table, scurried in a very commando way (or, stoatly, if you will. Yeah, some of these jokes are just for me.), and hid in the corner. Lula purred while she got examined. She purred while she got shots. She purred while they did things to her that made me feel violated FOR her. Lilly tried to hide by sticking her head in the crook of my arm. Oh, I said I was going to stop the crazy cat lady stuff a few paragraphs ago, didn't I? Oops.
Five thirty. I love being awake at this time of day. It doesn't happen much anymore, since I have to be all responsible and actually show up to work, but I love it when I can. Of course, the fact that I'm awake is mind-numbingly STUPID, since I not only have to work, but I agreed to fill in for Monica tonight, so I have to work a really long day. For some reason, this never seems to bother me when I'm staying up. "I'll be fine!" I tell myself. "I have a whole four-pack of frappuccino, and I'll have time for a nap at lunch!". HAH, says 9am me. 9am me will be ready to bitch-slap 5:30am me for not getting at least seventeen hours of sleep, because 9am me will remember that for the last several years, I've had the energy of a banana slug. Well, that might not be entirely accurate, since I don't honestly know about the energy levels of a banana slug, but it sounded good, didn't it? Seriously though, no matter what I do, how much sleep I get, for years now, I've been exhausted constantly. I'll take curling up in bed with a stack of books and dvd's all weekend over... well, just about anything. This is what makes Tallulah such a dangerous cohort- she curls up in bed and gives me that all-knowing look that only cats can do, which says "You know you want to come snuggle up in bed and pet me all day instead of (going to work/buying groceries/being a productive member of society). Doesn't this look soooo comfy?", and of course, I fall for it all the time, and just want to curl up for a cat nap with her. Of course, she usually does this to me as I'm running around searching for my phone and my keys and my other shoe so that I can make it to work on time, so I don't get to give in nearly as often as I'd like.
I haven't had a good stay at home and do absolutely nothing weekend in a while, and it's getting to me. Last weekend, I spent pretty much every waking hour over at the new house painting. (Well, priming, to be more accurate. The wood paneling I'm painting over is sucking up primer like a sponge, and then turning it an unattractive yellowish color, like the color of aged paper.) That weekend was followed by the longest week ever, in which I was hardly home at all, and barely had time to sleep. This week has been better, because I had HORRIBLE allergies on Monday, so after doing my ticket run, I collapsed into bed, called up everyone I've ever met in my entire life trying to get them to cover for me at work, and ended up talking Mom into driving me on my bank run so that I could take allergy medicine and happily pass out in the passenger seat. Monica covered the doctors, which left me free to come home and sleeeeeeeep. Tuesday morning I had dance, and to prevent having to rush around, and also just because I needed a break, I had arranged for Karen to do my bank run Tuesday afternoon, so I got to loll about in Springfield after class, catching up on library and BN time, which made me a much happier girl. So, having the later half of Monday and the first half of Tuesday off added up to a whole day off, which is probably the only reason I'm still alive at this point, because I was seriously to the point of being burnt out.
This weekend I'll probably be back over at the house, hoping that the wall has given up on annoying me and just stayed white this time, so that I can make it blue, and then move on to other rooms. Then on Sunday is the parade, where I'll get to do the whole wave-wave thing on the float, do a little dance, make a little love, and get down tonight. Um, just without the love and the getting down. As far as I know, anyway.
The beautiful thing that just occured to me yesterday, as I pulled into the bank parking lot and saw the blessed sight of a sign on their door, which always means a holiday is coming up, and I will be getting a day off from them, that Monday is being considered a holiday, so I will not have to work! Well, at least I know so far that I won't have to work at the bank and one doctor, I'm not sure about the other two doctors and tickets, but I suppose I can ask about that when I get there in oh.. FOUR HOURS.
Sunday will be pretty much an all-day thing, with getting there early to do hair and makeup, and hanging out after, so I'm unbelievably thankful that I'll have at least part of Monday off to catch up on the important activities of sitting and sleeping. I've got so many good books that I wish I had more time to read, and about a billion movies to catch up on, and OOH! Speaking of movies, Spiderman 2 is out now, which I can't wait to see, and the King Arthur movie will be out in a few days, which should be good too, since I'm big on the whole Arthurian legend thing. I'm trying to go see movies in the theater more frequently, because I do love it so much, but I tend to be lazy about it, and I seem to be getting better. The only reason I haven't already gone to see Spidey is that I know it will be sold out, what with the massive 4th of July crowds in town, and I'd rather wait until it's a little less crowded. As long as I catch it while it's still at IMAX, I'll be happy.
This photo of the Earth's city lights from space fascinates me.
As much as I love Amazon.com, their customer service kind of blows. The same stuff keeps showing up in my recommendations, even though it's already on my wish list, which drives me crazy, because I like looking through the recommendations to find new stuff, not the same items I've seen a million times. The first time I submitted a question about how I can keep stuff that's on my wish list from showing up on my recommendations constantly, I got an email back about "improving my recommendations by rating items I've bought." Umm, not helpful. I used the "No, dumbasses, this info didn't help" link in the email, submitted the same question, and got an equally useless answer. Used the No link again, and am yet to hear back. I just want fresh new recommendations! Is that so much to ask?
Also on a booky note, in case you didn't hear, JKR announced that the sixth book will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The lack of a hyphen there drives me nuts. Unless perhaps it's supposed to be that way, that there's this poor fellow called a blood prince, but there is only half of him. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new book, whenever it ends up coming out. I need to re-read Order of the Phoenix- I read it the day it came out, after being at the bookstore at midnight in true nerdy fashion, and then loaned it to Christa, and haven't seen it since. Maybe I'll get it on tape from the library, so that I can listen to it while I work.
